Ocean plastics. The disease of man.

The worst element is that plastics don't degrade at a rapid rate, they are constructed to last! As such, it can take 50-100 hundred years for a single plastic item to break down enough to not be damaging. And again, it is only getting worse with each and every passing day. One would think that government would be more stringent on forcing more policies in place and push the proposal of recycling.
But that's not the case. Nations prefer to recycle, and do not make it mandatory law, and that's resulted in many issues.
